Facelift completed at Namib Desert Lodge - 07.11.05
Just 60 km north of Sesriem, the gateway to famous Sossusvlei, attractive new accommodation facilities are now available: Namib Desert Lodge. Situated at the foot of 'fossilised' dunes of the proto-morphic Namib, the lodge consists of 46 rooms with a private veranda. With rates from N$ 295 per person, including breakfast, Namib Desert Lodge offers extremely good value for money.

Sossusvlei’s clay pan, lined by camel thorn trees, Dead Vlei or !Nara Vlei, Dune 45 and Sesriem Canyon are all within easy reach on a day trip. The ‘fossilised’ dunes of the 15-million-year-old proto-morphic Namib and the sand sea of today’s Namib can be experienced on a scenic drive in Gondwana Namib Park. For chilling out there is a swimming pool. Breakfast, lunch and elegant dinners are served in the cosy atmosphere of the thatched restaurant which also sports a bar and a wine cellar. Evenings can be whiled away with a long-drink on the terrace – and views of the softly illuminated fossilised dunes.

A plant which processes up to 80 percent of the waste water is currently being installed to reduce water consumption. All the parks of the Desert Collection will be similarly equipped in due course.
