Namibia’s South on Show in Berlin - 08.03.06
What is the origin of the Wild Horses of the Namib in southern Namibia - which attract thousands of tourists every year? This question, for decades the subject of much debate, was answered by Gondwana’s Managing Director Mannfred Goldbeck at a press conference held by the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) as a lead-up to the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) in Berlin today. Apart from the origins of the horses there is also the question of their future. In times of drought they have repeatedly caused headlines far beyond Namibia’s borders.

Marketing Manager Miriam Spatz introduced at the press conference the newly established Four Deserts Route Namibia. The route leads through four desert systems in southern Namibia and serves as a link between special attractions, accommodation facilities, local tour operators and other tourism-related offerings. This way the traveller is provided with varied options for an even more intense desert experience.

The Gondwana Desert Collection also presented the third edition of its 'Gondwana News' magazine as well as the new websites of its four nature reserves at the ITB. Both these sources of information are up-to-the-minute: the magazine was hot from the presses in the end of February while the new websites saw their premiere today - on the first day of the ITB.

It goes without saying that the Gondwana Desert Collection is in attendance for visitors beyond the press conference too. Until Sunday (12 March) the Gondwana team will be promoting Namibia’s south, its four deserts and the nature reserves where the deserts can be experienced, at the Namibia stand (114) in hall 20.
