Back in the Management Team - 08.06.05
Erno Bertolini was appointed Assistant Group General Manager of the Gondwana Group in May. For six years he helped to develop the accommodation facilities and the self-sufficiency centre in Gondwana Cañon Park. He was Manager of Cañon Lodge when he left the company in September 2004 to look for a new challenge in his career and a change of scene in his private life. His involvement with Gondwana continued on an advisory level, however, and he assisted with alterations at the newly acquired accommodation facilities of Kalahari Anib Lodge and Namib Desert Lodge.

The newly created post of Assistant Group General Manager is part of a restructuring process with which the company responds to its expansion by another two parks - Gondwana Kalahari Park north-east of Mariental and Gondwana Namib Park north of Sesriem/Sossusvlei. Erno Bertolini acts as the link between the head office in Windhoek and Kalahari Anib Lodge, the accommodation facilities of the Cañon Collection and Namib Desert Lodge. He helps to establish efficient structures at the new lodges and sees to it that an equally high standard of quality and service is maintained in all the parks. This also includes stepping in when lodge managers are on leave or whenever support is needed.

"I appreciate this new challenge", Erno Bertolini says in his typically unassuming manner. "And I like it that I am not permanently stationed at one particular lodge but can shuttle back and forth between several lodges and the company’s head office in Windhoek."
