Praised for Affirmative Action - 09.11.04 The Gondwana Group was awarded a first prize in early November for staff policies which preferentially support women and the historically disadvantaged. Of the 300 companies competing for the 'Employment Equity Commissioner Award' only 13 received a prize. Gondwana was the only prize-winner in the tourism sector. Participants' Affirmative Action Reports for the years 2000 to 2004 served as the basis for assessment. Criteria included, for example, to what extent the make-up of the staff matches that of the entire population. In the course of three years Gondwana has increased the share of female staff from 18 to 39 percent.		The Minister of Labour, Marlene Mungunda, and the Minister of Prisons and Correctional Services, Andimba Toivo ya Toivo, with Gondwana Director Mannfred Goldbeck.
