Staff Member acquires Trade Diploma - 12.03.07
The head of reservations, Roman Nakale, has acquired a diploma in International Trade Management. The ten-month programme was largely financed by the Swedish Trade Council (STC) and consisted of two training stints in Stockholm as well as two seminar modules in Windhoek. Gondwana paid for one of the two trips to Sweden.
Three of the nine participants of the diploma course were from the travel sector. It is frequently overlooked that tourism products are export commodities: tours, car rentals and accommodation are sold to clients from foreign countries – often through a chain of intermediaries.
Within the framework of her course Roman Nakale presented Gondwana's parks and accommodation facilities at the Swedish Trade Council in Stockholm. Above all, however, she acquired essential insights and skills in goal-oriented marketing and sales in international trade. The awarding of the diploma certificate and a picture of Roman Nakale and other participants was featured by the Namibian in mid-February. Sweden intends to strengthen its economic relations with Namibia.
Simon Angula, a guest relations officer at Cañon Lodge, returned from Germany three days ago. He completed a five-week internship with the Miethaner Country Hotel in the Bavarian Forest in south-eastern Germany. He worked in all sections of the family business in order to get a good idea of how it is run.
