  Desert Tours on a Timetable - 12.10.07
Gondwana’s Four Deserts Tour has a proper timetable: the trip through southern Namibia will be done every two weeks from November. The nine-day route takes participants through the Gondwana Desert Collection’s four nature reserves where they will get to know the specific appeal of each of the deserts and spend the night in comfortable lodges.

The Namib is regarded as the oldest desert on earth.
It is a journey through enchanting and very diverse desert landscapes. The Kalahari with its rusty red dunes, green acacias and yellow savannah grasses; the Nama Karoo with its mushroom-shaped quiver trees and the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon on earth; the Succulent Karoo, also referred to as Namibia’s Namaqualand because of the colourful explosion of flowers after sufficient winter rains (July to September); and the Namib with its sea of sand und the world’s highest dunes at famous Sossusvlei.
Sights covered by the tour - apart from the main attractions, the Fish River Canyon and Sossusvlei - include the deserted former diamond settlement of Kolmanskuppe in the Restricted Area (Sperrgebiet) and the harbour town of Lüderitz with its magnificent Jugendstil mansions and the old stone cross, erected by Bartholomew Diaz more than 500 years ago. But the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop, the fascinating Wild Horses of the Namib around Aus, the narrow gorge of the Sesriem Canyon and the 'fossilized dunes' of the primeval Namib also make superb subjects for photographs.
