		Into the Canyon no more - 20.07.07 Bad news for hiking fans who intend to do the several days’ tour through the Fish River Canyon: the canyon is officially closed from 31 July. This was recently announced by officials of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. The reason: there is not enough water left in the canyon. Usually the hikes take place until 15 September. The next hiking season only starts at the end of the Namibian summer on 1 May 2008. The Fish River Canyon hike covers a distance of 80 km from Hiker’s Point near Hobas to the thermal baths of Ai Ais and takes 5 days.
