Dutch Public delighted with Namibia - 23.01.06
A record number of over one million visitors, both professionals and the ordinary public, was recorded at the consumer fair in the Netherlands from 10 to 15 January. Was it the icy wind that drew the Dutch and Belgians to Utrecht in droves? Or was it the gorgeous bikini girl smiling from billboards around the freezing train station who directed a constant flow of people towards the fair's entrance?

Without doubt, however, it was the charming crew at the Namibia stand who encouraged would-be travellers to change their plans and head for the beautiful desert landscapes north of South Africa instead.
Visitors who were still undecided about their next holiday destination did not have to look any further: the Gondwana Desert Collection with its wide range of attractive accommodation facilities, complete with guaranteed sunshine, was certainly alluring enough. It was the first time for Gondwana to exhibit for the Dutch and Belgian market, and participation in the Vakantiebeurs was definitely a worthwhile decision.

Visitors enquired about the roads and general safety when travelling through the desert, or about anguage problems which they

expected to encounter. How pleasantly surprised they were to learn that Namibia has a network of safe roads and offers classy accommodation, great food and loads of activities and adventure for children and adults alike! Especially the similarity of Dutch and Flemish to Afrikaans, which is widely spoken in Namibia, was a decisive factor for many to choose Namibia for their next holiday destination.
